Built in the 1790s by Lord Dunmore as his private summer retreat, this remarkable home is the second-oldest house on Harbour Island, a rare piece of the island’s history thoughtfully brought into the present. 

A meticulous restoration, completed in early 2025, returned the house to its original limestone walls, rebuilding the interiors within them while preserving the character and soul of this extraordinary historic home.

Dunmore Cottage is more than a historic home. It is a private Harbour Island compound in the heart of Dunmore Town, thoughtfully arranged around a secluded pool and enclosed by limestone walls, with the harbour just across Bay Street.

The Main House features three bedrooms, including a ground-floor primary suite, while the separate Pool Cottage offers a fourth bedroom with its own full bathroom and French doors opening toward the pool and garden. Together, the four bedrooms and six full bathrooms comfortably accommodate up to ten guests.

Stone paths connect the Main House, Pool Cottage, and Laundry Cottage, while the private grounds create a natural sense of space and separation. An outdoor bar and kitchen with an XL Big Green Egg, beverage refrigerator, sink, and outdoor television make entertaining effortless.

At the heart of the property, the covered terrace overlooks the pool and provides the perfect setting for long dinners and relaxed gatherings. 

The thoughtful layout allows everyone to come together, while still offering plenty of quiet corners to retreat to throughout the day.
